The story behind the Remembrance paintings produced by ATTFE College construction learners and their tutors Billy Norman and Chris Styn is as follows:
Liz Barrett, Principal of ATTFE College has been actively involved in leading and organising the Sutton-In-Ashfield Remembrance Event for the past decade. At a debrief from the 2022 Remembrance event is was agreed that it would be lovely to have Remembrance Artwork on the Cemetary railings for future years to help the Town and all who pass through it to remember those who have given their lives in war and conflict. Liz took this thought back to the ATTFE College construction team and magnificent tutors Billy and Chris came up with the plan of creating four pieces of original artwork produced by construction learners which illustrated 'letters home' received from soldiers on the front line.
Billy has then led forward original music that compliments the artwork and professional narration of the letters over it.
As a result, truly unique works of art and music have been created in a collaborative way which are a real credit to all involved.
